For the sake of those at a distance from Edinburgh, into whose hands the preceding lecture may come, it seems desirable to mention the following points in illustration of the present condition of the Industrial Museum of Scotland, including its Laboratory, Library, and associated Professorship of Technology.

The objects procured for the Industrial Museum by purchase and donation, since its establishment three years ago, are at present warehoused in two buildings, the one formerly a School, the other a Dissenting Chapel, which occupy part of the site purchased in Argyle Square, Edinburgh, for the New Museum. Those specimens are not accessible to the public, nor available for their instruction, except to a small extent as employed in illustrating the lectures on Technology.

The Laboratory, which is rented by the Director of the Museum, forms part of the suite of medical class rooms within the gate of the Royal College of Surgeons, Nicolson Street; and in default of convenient accommodation within the University, the lectures on Technology are delivered in one of the class rooms adjoining the Laboratory, five lectures being given weekly during the winter session.

The Library, which as yet is quite rudimentary, is preserved in one of the buildings occupying the site of the New Museum.

A directory entering into fuller details on these matters will be issued shortly, under the auspices of the Science and Art Department of the Council on Education.
